Kenwood Kac 1020 Amplifier Wiring Harness

• 60 Answers SOURCE: I found the manual & have pasted the url here for you. Some things to keep in mind. According to the instruction manual this unit is rated @ 500W, not 1000W. Also to maximize the output you should use 2ohm speakers for stereo applications.

Also make sure if you need to extend the power wire, use 10 gauge copper & make sure it's connected to the car battery thru a 60 amp fuse. Also make sure the ground is attached to a clean metal frame or body part by using a bolt & nut not merely a screw. If you need additional assistance let me know. It should be plain as day where the speakers connect to. The 12V screw connects to the main power from battery, be sure to fuse that wire and use a proper size wire, thicker is better,I suggest at least 8gauge with 40amp fuse. The GND is ground and should connect to car metal, file paint for soild connection. The REM is remote and connects to the remote of headunit or if you have a stock deck to the acc of car found in wire harness of headunit. Plug in the RCA's to head unit, or get a converter to plug into speaker wires from car if you have a stock headunit. Posted on Mar 24, 2010.

I never really thought I would get installing a massive audio system in my car, especially because most of the time you see a guy roll up at a red light and have their doof-doof playing full ball and just think 'tosser'. Well, damn it. Having all this nice gear in my house is making me want more in my car. On my last birthday I was given some very good Alpine 6'X9' speakers and I went to Cash Converters the other day and ended up walking out $49 poorer with a large car amp.

Its a Kenwood KAC-920, and I have no idea weather its any good or not. It obviously had been sitting there for a long while, I pulled off many price labels $49, $89, $109, $149. After spending a bit of time researching on the net all I was able to determine is that its actually pretty old (for a car amp), from about 1991.

Thats all I could find out though, I cant find any info on its power output. Does anyone know its power output or have any info at all on this? Thanks for any help. Um.it's really old? That generation had the KAC-520 (15 X 2), 720 (35 X 2), 820 (75 X 2 I think), 920 (100 X 2)and 1020 (200 X 2) and was the early stage of the DIN connectors for 'easily' hooking up all Kenwood stuff up together. Of course, every other manufacturer had DIN connectors too so you can imagine the expense of using a Kenwood radio, Pioneer EQ, Alpine amp, etc, etc.
